I also have been scratching my head about getting used to the new V2 base and FFB updates. Had oscillation on straights issues as well as weird damper/spring behavior.
For now my solution is:
(I expect you work out gainsettings with clip/pedal app and pit gain/FOR settings already)
in Fanatecs Wheel Property Page, make sure Damper is 100.
in game menu, Controls > Advanced, set Damping to 99! Yes, I have also used like 5-10% value here for ages.
same menu, keep Minimum Force below 5%, I have mine @ 2% for just enough engine and center feel.
it's cruzial that DOF is correct, wether you´re using Fanaleds DOF or just the ingame. That is dof 40% in menu, SEN to OFF, when using FL. If not, use 900% in menu (or use config wizard) and SEN to 900. I have the best results with Fanaleds, remember to check with virtual steering wheel, some values are maybe left out if you dl'ed a fanaleds preset file. Cars like the LaFerrari was not in the list I had, therefore I had to manually input 730 degree after testing.
Anyway, in pit, use appropiate Gain, and keep Damper at 100.
Now, on the V2, set DPR at 30 and try DRI at 002 or 003. This only gives slight oscillation, the car is able to maintain straight driving itself but will still start to pull if hitting bumps. I like DPR 30/DRI 003 for roadcars, DPR 20/DRI 002 for racecars, but experiment for your liking. Try DRI off and maybe DPR 10, just to see the difference. If you, like me, always had damper in main menu at <10, it will almost be unnoticable even with DPR 100.
SPR should be off, it should be the tyres themselves that straightens the car. That takes the right combination of DRI and Damper effects to obtain.
Last, a no-no in the past for me as well, but if you experience a little too touchy steering around center, try DEA at 10. The forces will still be there, but steering slighty more steady at center. I think it works much better with V2 compared to V1.
That said, I'm not sure we're there yet, the V2 still feels slightly spongy, at least with AC FFB, so we'll se how that develops.
These are the recommended CAR v1 settings:
Fanatec Wheel Tuning Menu | SEn: OFF | FF: 100 | SHo: 100 | AbS: 0 | LIn: OFF | dEA: OFF | drI: 2 or 3 (VERY IMPORTANT) | For: 100 | SPr: OFF | dPr: I prefer 60 but do some testing yourself too |
Since you used the CSW v2 in the press event a fees month back, can you recommend the settings for that as well please?
The ingame settings would be helpful
As well.
Is something around 2-3 for drI still VERY important with CSW v2? Since the v2 has a lot less resistance compared to the v1 it should feel like a constant spring fighting you all the time. So is a setting of 2-3 still optimal?
Fanatec Wheel Properties: Wheel angle: 900° | Dampening Strength: 0 | Fanatec Tuning Menu: SEn: OFF | FF: 100 | SHo:0| AbS: OFF | LIn: OFF | dEA: OFF | drI: 001 | For: 80-120 | SPr: 0 |dPr: 0
Am I correct to assume that there are 4 options to set the Dampening and all are influence each other?
Fanatec Driver: Dampening Strength
Controller Option: Damping
Car Setup Option: Damping
Wheel: Dpr
So in order to really be able to fine tune the effect on the fly with the Dpr setting on the wheel while driving, all other 3 options have to be set to 100%.
If one of them is "0" the Dpr won't have any effect at all, correct?
1:Fanatec Driver: Dampening Strength
2:Controller Option: Damping
3:Car Setup Option: Damping
4:Wheel: Dpr
1,2 and 4 are connected. If 1 is o, 2 and 3 will have no effect. If 1 is 100, 2 is 100, then 3 directly determines how much % dampening you have. If 1 is 50, 2 is 25 and 3 is 75, then you will have (1/2*1/4*3/4=3/40) 7.5% dampening.
I don't know if 4 is directly connected to 1, 2 and 3. The manual says:
FOR (force), SPR (spring), DPR (damper) These force feedback modifiers give you the ability to change the force feed-back signals of a game. In theory there are three types of signals which a game can send: Force (pushes the wheel into a special direction), spring (pulls the wheel towards the center) and damper (creates friction). Not every game uses all types of effects and some games even use only one type to create all differ-ent feelings. Using your tuning menu in the CSW you can increase or reduce these different effects individually.
So I don't know if the relations and herachies are 1>2>3 and 4 independent or 4>1>2>3 or 1>4>2>3.
